Identity Theft

Identity Theft

I have felt so compelled to share this story with you.  There is such a transgender explosion going on in our world today.  God is clear about his view on transgenders in Deuteronomy 22:5 .  He tells us “A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the Lord God detests anyone who does this.”

The Lord is not referring to a woman wearing a pair of jeans or a man’s jacket for fashion sake.  He is referring to a man or a woman who is purposely changing their identity from a man to a woman or a woman to a man.  This is a serious offense in the eyes of the Lord and we must take it seriously!  The Lord “detests” the person who does this, as stated in Deuteronomy.  It is an insult to the Lord because He created us to be the gender we were born with.

It is enormously dangerous and irresponsible to be changing your child’s sexual identity because he or she shows interests that don’t line up with their gender birth.  It is equally dangerous to change your sexual identity as an adult.

In my years of ministry, I have come across numerous people, especially women, who have shared about how hard and awkward it was to transition from a tomboy to a woman.  For some, it happened in their late teens, for others, as late as their early thirties.  They all told me that now they are so thankful they were born their birth gender!

To give you another example, my bible study ladies and I prayed for a man who was struggling with changing his gender.  We prayed fervently for him as he had a wife and a family.  Our prayers were answered just short of his hormonal therapy.  He did not go through with it although he admitted it was still a struggle.  Fast forward a few years, this same man is now remarried and comfortable in his own skin as the man he was created to be when he was born. So with that in mind, I want to share one particularly powerful and moving experience I had involving this issue.

Several years ago, I frequented a particular business.  There was a young man about the age of 17 or so that worked at that business.  He was extremely feminine in the way he acted.  It was excruciating to witness and I was totally disgusted every time I would see him.  He did not cross dress (at least to my knowledge, as I only saw him in a work environment)  but everything about him was very, very feminine.

As I shopped around the store, I had the most disgusting thoughts of this individual.  It was not very godly of me, to say the least.  And then I heard the Lord speak to me as though He was thundering down from Heaven.  He said to me…”Janice, you have the wrong attitude about this young man.  What he is dealing with is of a demonic nature.  You need to pray for him.”  Well, if you have ever heard the Lord correct you like that, then you never forget it!  He gave me a “call to action” as they say!

That week I told my bible study ladies about it.  One lady disagreed with me about why this young man was acting the way that he was.  I said,  “No,  I heard what the Lord said to me.  It is nothing other than demonic in nature and I will commit to pray for him for as long as it takes.”

Because I heard the Lord so clearly that day, I no longer had a disgust in my heart for this young man.  I gained compassion for him.  I knew it was a spiritual battle he was fighting even if he didn’t know it at the time.  So….I prayed.  I prayed and I prayed for three years!  I prayed that he would come to a point where the demonic spirit would leave him and he would be restored peacefully to the young man God had created him to be.

Low and behold, three years after I was reprimanded by the Lord on my attitude, I walked in to that place of business for the last time.  I was moving out of the area that week and I hadn’t seen this guy in about a year or so.  However, I had continued to pray for him.

It is so amazing how the Lord will show you the results of your prayers.  But those prayers are answered  on His terms and timing, not ours!  As I walked into this business,  I saw this young man from behind.  I thought to myself, “That looks like him”!   However, I did not see any sign of feminine behavior.  I thought it had to be someone else! However, when I saw his face and his name tag, I knew it was him!  He looked so content, so manly, so at peace, so comfortable in his skin!  It was the last time I would be in that place of business and God allowed me to see the power of my prayers for that young man!

Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy!  He is the author of confusion and wants to steal our identity as men and women!  We have to stop the gender confusion movement and the ONLY way to do it is prayerfully.  we have to speak the truth and point people to what scripture says about it!  Our prayers are far more powerful than the devil!  We must separate the behavior from the individual.  We must have compassion on them and understand the battle they are fighting!  Otherwise, it’s too hard to pray for them if we have feelings of disgust.

I don’t want to over simplify the term “demonic” but it really is just an evil spirit that confuses us into doing something or being something that is contradictory of God’s will.  The term is scary to many and I have to admit, it used to be very creepy to me, as well.  However, the more I know scripture and what it says concerning good and evil, the better equipped I am to understand it.

Maybe you are struggling with accepting your birth gender.  The Lord already knows you are struggling because He is Omniscient (all-knowing).  Maybe you have already changed your gender identity.  There is nothing we can do that is so bad the Lord can’t forgive us of it.  There is a difference in worldly sorrow (shallow and not genuine) and godly sorrow.  Godly sorrow is a deep conviction we feel when we know we have done something against the Lord.  But the good news is, the Lord is ready to forgive our confusion and our mistakes that can’t be undone.  If anyone understands how the devil works, it’s the Lord!

Who do you need to be praying for?  We could change the “transgender movement” simply by having an attitude of compassion on them and countering the spiritual battle they are fighting with our fervent prayers!

Blessings,

Janice Bobanis
